Mayra Alvarez was born on September 10, 1987 in Houston, Texas. She began singing at the age of 6 at her local church. At a young age, her vocal ability opened opportunities for her to sing on TBN and Daystar. At age 13, she competed in the Assemblies of God Fine Arts National Competition where she won two full year scholarships to any Christian college of her choice. In May 2009, she graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a Bachelors Degree in General Ministries. From 2008-2010, Mayra served on the worship team at Lakewood Church and traveled with Joel Osteen Ministry tours for their “Night of Hope.”
Mayra currently leads worship at Grace Community Church in Houston, Texas and is also a member of Israel Houghton’s New Breed. Mayra has done background vocals for Israel Houghton, Michael W.Smith, Ricardo Sanchez, Cindy Cruse Ratcliff, Danilo Montero, Coalo Zamorano and is featured on Steve Crawford’s latest single “I’m A Believer.” She has had the privilege of working with experienced and talented producers such as Tommy Simms and Mark G. Townsend.
“Promises” brings fresh pop musical arrangements, crisp vocals and syncopated harmonies that will attract an audience that would not have listened to the message of otherwise.
